What have you gotta do when you move into your new apartment only to find that you old TV looks tiny in your new front room?

You buy a new TV of course!

Image

This is the SONY 50" E2010 which is picked up from Comet for £720 as it was ex-display, yes i know its Rear Projection but i like it :P

Its HD enabled but only to 720p which is fine to me tbh as what HD content is there atm for free? None!

So i am now also building a MediaPC to go with it :) one thats HDMI enabled!!

So i bought the following:
Quote:
KeySonic 2.4Ghz Wireless Compact Keyboard with Integrated TouchPad
ABIT Fatal1ty F-I90HD
Antec NSK2400 MATX Desktop Case Black/Silver - With 380W PSU
Intel E2140 Pentium Dual Core Socket 775 2x1.60GHz 1MB Cache 800FSB
Linksys WMP54G 54mbps Wireless PCI Adapter Card
Ebuyer 1GB KIT (2X512MB) DDR2 800MHz / PC2-6400 Extra Value Ram
Ebuyer Extra Value HDMI to HDMI Cable (Black) 2m

Not bad for £256!

I have a couple of Hard Drives that i have put in this myself, so that cut costs a lot.

But im sure you will agree thats a crazy spec Media PC for the price + full HDMI!

I will get some pics of this when i rebuild it later this week as i killed the motherboards bios on Friday and am waiting on a new one from Abit.

Well the TV does not really support 1080i but i have found running 720p/50 a lot clearer than 720p/60 for the few hours i did have it running.

I just had a bit of a problem running HD .TS files.

Fingers crossed i'll have it all back up and running by Wednesday/Thursday!

tv is transmitted at 50Hz so it will do! 60Hz will give a stuttered scroll on things like bbc news scrollers etc

How did you get the F-I90HD to run at 50hz?

How gutted am i! I have been sat here for nearly a week with a non-working MediaPC only to fix it last night with the boot recovery method i try'd in the first place :)

Only this time without the force commands on the autoexec.bat :D

Im now up and running fine again but back on XP with MediaPortal!

Will get some pictures up later tonight but for now

Glad it is up and running for you now :D

I can't see that picture :( might just be my work connection as they filter some image hosting sites though :(

How are your attempts at stealthing the drive going? how are you going about it? just cutting the supplied 5.25" blanking plate?

Yeah all i did was cut down some of the plastic at the back of it and use some Velcro strips i bought from local DIY shop.

Just need something to make the eject button work :D

Wooo CS on 50" :D!

I have a slight problem using HDMI there seems to be a green or white shadow around all text or black pixels, its very annoying but dont seem to be there when using VGA.

Could it be the HDMI cable?

Looking good mate ... does your case have the drive in it in those pics? if so then that is a good job you have done :D

Fraid I am not much help with the image issues as mine has only just loaded windows at around 2am  Sure one of the others will have a tip for you though.

Yep the drive bay is stealthed but the eject button is not quite working yet as i need to find something to stick between the plate and the drive.

But it at least blocks it off!
